Christmas Part 2

Nana and Papa (Jennifer’s parents) came to visit the weekend before Christmas.

Those are all the presents just for Abby. She got a lot of things that she will need over the next year like a swing for outside and toys for the bath.

Nana and Abby did get a chance to talk. Abby is very chatty now and makes about 5 different sounds. I will try to get a video of her talking and post it soon. That is outfit #6 right there.

It was a short trip but good that we got to see them.

Abby has gotten so many new ornaments this year that she will have her own tree in her room next year. This one is a favorite that her grandma gave her.

Here is our tree. Abby was not too impressed with it.

And here are all our stockings.

Jennifer puts up that nativity set every year. This year nana got Abby a Little People nativity set so Abby can set it up next year.

On Christmas night, we went to Grandma and Grandpa’s house (Shawn’s parents).

And now you have seen her final Christmas outfit (#7). She had a lot of gifts at their house too! She mostly slept at their house which is fine because she doesn’t get too excited by presents.

She got toys and clothes from grandma and grandpa. We did wake her up right before we left to get a picture of our little family!

Christmas Part 1

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! We have had a busy December.

Because Abby can’t leave the state until the adoption is final, Everyone has had to come to us. In the middle of December, Aunt Kalie and Uncle Chris (Jennifer’s brother) came to see her. It was the first time they had gotten to meet her in person (We have only face timed with them before)!

Abby has gotten several Christmas outfits as gifts this year. She looks so cute in all of them! Of course, she looks cute all of the time! Here is Outfit #1!

And here is Abby’s outfit #2!

And Outfit #3! She sleeps with her arms up all the time. She has never liked being swaddled because she has to get those arms up!

And Outfit #4! In Iceland everyone exchanges books on Christmas Eve and they send the evening reading and drinking hot coco! Shawn and Jennifer Started this tradition last year. Abby’s book was a Curious George Christmas Book. She likes being read too now and can focus her eyes on the pictures.

And Outfit #5! Big yawn for such a little baby! That is her next to her new stocking! I wanted a picture of her in it but she wouldn’t fit! She is almost 14 lbs now!

There are two more outfits to see (yes, 7 Christmas outfits)! We will get the Christmas Day pictures up in a couple of days!

Here is the best present we could every get under the tree!

Two Months Old

Abby was two months old on December 4th. I can’t believe we have had her that long!

She is very active and alert now. She stairs at faces and follows Mommy and Daddy (and the dogs) around the room with her eyes. She smiles and coos all the time. When someone new walks into the room she will turn her head to look at them.

She is 24 inches long and about 12.5 lbs (her doctors appointment is on Monday and we will get an official weight then). She is completely out of 0-3 month clothes and on to 3-6 month clothes.

That onesie is 0-3 months and you can see how snug it is on her. I couldn’t even snap the snaps on the bottom! I had to get a picture of her in it because is says “little peanut” and that is our pet name for her!

She likes playing in her play gym, rattles, swinging in her swing and snuggling in a fluffy blanket. She does not like sleeping alone (she does sleep in her crib alone at night but she prefers to be held for all her daytime naps) or putting her arms in sleeves (she cries when we dress her, just during the sleeve part but . . . I mean . . . She has to do it 🤷🏻‍♀️).

Sometimes she does let me lay her on the couch next to me while I work.

But most of the time I work like this. She also likes to sleep on daddy.

Or Nana

She’s not picky. As long as someone is holding her!

Jennifer’s parents (Abby’s Nana and Papa Mike) were in town for Thanksgiving but I don’t think I posted the pictures.

That is her with Papa Mike.

Also, she went to church for the first time on Thanksgiving weekend. I have been nervous to take her because RSV is really bad in our area right now. That is us with Shawn’s parents (Abby’s Grandma and Grandpa).

And here is a video of her playing

Thanksgiving

Abby had a good first Thanksgiving!

She had a bottle around 2pm and then slept while the grown ups ate dinner.

Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, and Papa were there (apparently we didn’t get any pictures). Also, our friends Erin and Jesse were there. They join us every year because neither of them have family close.

Even through Abby didn’t have any turkey she was very sleepy!

Big Yawn! We hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving, too!

Here are two more pictures of her in a different Thanksgiving outfit!

My idea is to take a picture of her with this pillow every Thanksgiving!

A Lot of Firsts

I guess the whole first couple of years is full of firsts but she has had a lot of them over the last couple weeks.

She went to her first hockey game. Daddy plays in a recreational league and his team won their championship. Here is a picture of them with the trophy!

She sleeps for a good chunk in the middle of the night (11p-5a) which is amazing!

First snow!

And first snow angel.

And first visit with Santa.

Abby is 1 Month Old

I am a few days late posting this but this little girl turned 1 Month old on Monday!

She weighs 10 lbs 15 oz and is 23.5 inches long. She is just barely fitting in 0-3 month clothes. We think teal is really her color.

Abby likes swinging in her swing and now follows mommy with her eyes.

She is also doing a great job holding her head up by herself.

This week Aunt Elizabeth (Mommy’s Best Friend) came to meet Abby. Everyone who meets Abby cries tears of joy and thinks Abby is beautiful!

Jennifer has started working mostly from home and Abby has been helping! This is the typical seen on our couch these days. Mommy working and baby and puppies sleeping.

Week One

Abby has had a busy and exciting first week of life!

We came home from the hospital on Sunday
I am going to put this bunny in all her monthly photos for the first year so everyone can see how much she has grown!

We have family dinner with Shawn’s parents every Sunday night. This week we had a surprise for them! Jennifer and Abby waited in her nursery while Shawn led his parents down the hall and opened the door. They stood in shock for a few minutes and then started to cry. The only way to describe their expressions is pure joy!

The next few days were just eating, snuggles, and sleep. And we loved every minute!

Yes, that is big foot in the background.

Abby went to her first doctor’s appointment and the doctor said that everything is great! Babies loose up to 10% of their body weight just after birth but she is already well on her way to gaining it back! She weighed 9 lbs and 1 oz today. She is in the 90th percentile on her weight and 98th percentile on her height. Her umbilical cord fell off yesterday and the doctor says her belly button looks good. We go back in a week for another check up.

Everyone at the office thought she was so sweet!

We have three dogs and it took them a day or two to get used to our new family member. One of our dogs, Sadie is Abby’s personal watch dog!

Where ever Abby is, Sadie is there too!
She even makes sure that I am feeding her correctly!
